There is also the option of running a reverse proxy in front of Domino 8.5.3. It would allow you to keep your Domino on 8.5.3, but still expose it to the web without worry of SHA2 errors/warnings. That won't help you with SMTP/IMAP/LDAP ssl obviously.
This is what I have done on our server, and it has the added benefit of quick and easy updates in the face of new security vulnerabilities, and the ability to run TLS 1.2.
